This blend has notes of honey, orange, and pineapple with a wonderful mineral character. We did not expose the wine to oak aging allowing the wine to remain fresh and lively.
There are a scant 6 acres of our Sonoma Coast Estate Marsanne that contribute to this blend. Our Carneros vineyard is known for its cool and moderate temperatures which allow for long ripening time and full flavor development. The 2019 vintage Roussanne was grown in two locations, both in the Sonoma Coast and Petaluma Gap AVAs. These vineyards experience fog that filters in and lingers until noon, keeping temperatures cool and imparting bright citrus flavors, crisp acidity with a hint of floral character to the blend.
The grapes were handpicked and conveyed to our destemmer without crushing. This very gentle process ensures a smooth blend. The grapes were then pumped directly to our tank press which gently squeezes the juice free of the skins and seeds. From there the juice was pumped to a settling tank where it was chilled to 50 degrees F to preserve the bright flavors. After settling, the juice was racked to another stainless steel tank for fermentation. Once fermentation was complete the wine was cold stabilized, filtered and bottled.
