A blend of Mourvedre, Syrah, & Grenache combine for seductive flavors of cherry and blueberry intermingled with secondary notes of black pepper and cooking spice.
Sourced from our Sustainably farmed vineyards, 60% comes from our Sonoma Coast Vineyards and the rest from our Contra Costa Vineyards. Sonoma Coast is known for its cool breezes and fog layers and proximity to the Pacific Ocean producing extraordinary late ripening and delicious Syrah and a little Grenache. Our Contra Costa Vineyards are some of the oldest in California and the world, sandy soils, dry-farmed and own-rooted, these vineyards have stood the test of time and produce mouth-watering Mourvedre and Grenache.
The grapes are handpicked, crushed, destemmed and pumped to a fermentor. Selected wine yeast carry out the fermentation. We hold the temperature to 85 degrees to gain the ideal extraction of tannins, flavors and color and yet retain the fresh fruit component of the grape. We then press, combine press and free-run into another tank and wait for the ML fermentation to complete. The wine is then off to age on a combination of new and neutral oak. It is then filtered and bottled.
