This juicy red is full-bodied with flavors of dark berries and black-pepper. The wine has smooth tannins and luscious fruit and should age well into the future.
The 2016 Farmhouse Red is a blend of 49% Merlot, 27% Syrah, 11% Grenache, 8% Petite Sirah, 5% Mourvedre
The grapes for this blend come from our Estate Sonoma Vineyards, Estate Tehema Vineyards and from Contra Costa County
The Lion’s share of the grapes are hand-picked and delivered to our crush pad in Sonoma where they are destemmed. The must is then pumped to a temperature-controlled fermenting tank. Native yeast takes hold and the fermentation begins. Once the fermentation has extracted the perfect amount of tannins from the skins the grapes are pressed. Both free run and press juice combine to enhance the structure of the wine. The wine is racked to 40% new French oak with a medium toast which will enhance and not overpower the fruit.
