CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLE

As a family-owned winery, sustainability is our priority for many reasons. Fred and Nancy knew they wanted to pass down the winery and vineyards to their children, so they didn’t use pesticides and herbicides to grow their grapes. They treated the land with great respect.

Cline is committed to carrying on their legacy in the vineyards and in business practices. In 2018 our vineyards and winery became Certified California Sustainable and Sonoma County Sustainable.

WHERE TO BUY

Cashmere is a tribute to the women of Cline, highlighting the graceful and delicate aspects of Rhône varietals.

Traditionally, Cline's Zinfandels and Rhône wines have been celebrated for their robust and bold characteristics.
In contrast, Cashmere is crafted with a softer, more approachable style, steering clear of heavy tannins and oak influence.

This wine mirrors its namesake, the Cashmere sweater, which is renowned for its understated elegance and timeless appeal. Just as Cashmere wool is
celebrated for its durability and softness, our Cashmere wine offers a refined, enduring quality that is both gentle and sophisticated.

VINEYARDS

Sourced from our sustainably farmed vineyards, 60% of the grapes come from our Contra Costa vineyards and the rest from our Sonoma Coast vineyards. Sonoma Coast is known for its cool breezes and fog layers due to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean. This produces extraordinary, late ripening and delicious Syrah and Grenache. Our Contra Costa vineyards are some of the oldest in California and the world - sand-soils, dry-farmed and own rooted - these vineyards have stood the test of time and produce mouth-watering Mourvèdre.

WINEMAKING

Grapes were handpicked, crushed, destemmed and pumped to a fermentor. Select wine yeast carried out the fermentation. The temperature was held to 85 degrees to gain the ideal extraction of tannins, flavors and color while still retaining the fresh fruit component of the grapes. The wine was pressed and combined with free-run juice into another tank to complete the malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged for 12 months in a combination of new and neutral oak before filtering and bottling.
