Refreshingly dry with soft aromas of floral perfume and a rich, full-bodied mix of citrus and peppery spice.
Our Gewürztraminer grapes come from three vineyards. One located between the Russian River and Old River road just south of Ukiah where rich soil and cold evenings allow this grape to ripen fully and develop a wonderful spicy character. The balance of the fruit comes from our 5 Sisters home ranch estate vineyard in Carneros and our Diamond Pile Ranch vineyard east of the town of Sonoma. Both these locations are cool climate, considered ideal for growing Gewürztraminer.
The grapes were handpicked and destemmed without crushing and immediately pumped to our tank press where the juice was gently squeezed from the berries. We then pumped the juice to a stainless steel fermentation tank where the wine was chilled and settled for two days. The juice was then racked (decanted) off the grape solids and inoculated with a pure strain of wine yeast. Fermentation proceeded at a cool 50-55 degrees F to preserve the lovely fruit character of the grape. The three lots were blended and kept in temperature controlled stainless, seeing no oak aging to showcase the vibrant fruit of the Gewürztraminer.
