A beautifully fresh sparkling with multiple layers and complexity, from floral aromatics and tropical fruits to the rich brioche quality on the finish. A hugely enjoyable wine to share with friends.

The grapes are sourced from our J Poppe vineyard in Carneros at the winery. Here the cooling influence of the San Pablo bay gives foggy mornings but warm days. The east-facing slope is ideal for ripening Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The heavy clay soils with high organic matter give a vibrancy to the fruit and our Nancy's Cuvee is often the first pick of the season at the end of August for the Pinot Noir and another two weeks later the Chardonnay is ready.

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are picked two weeks apart, both handpicked, the Pinot Noir is whole cluster pressed whilst the Chardonnay is destemmed without crushing before pressing. The juice is cold settled and then racked to a stainless-steel fermentor where it ferments at 50-55 degrees F to retain the bright fresh flavors of the grape. The wine is fermented dry without undergoing M-L fermentation. This "Cuvee" is then moved to individual (Methode Champenois) bottles where a small amount of sugar and yeast are added. The wine then ferments in the bottle and natural CO2 that is created is capture in this bottle. The riddling and disgorging follow and the wine is ready for a December release the year following harvest.

Tasting Notes & Pairings

This sparkling has notes of creamy lemon curd with a slight white pepper, honeysuckle, guava, and melon notes lead into a freshly baked brioche finish.
